So I'm making this post with a little help from my Brahmin Graha friend, Venus. Since Venus is the Karaka of flowers, I thought it would be interesting to go through the Zodiacal Sign (Rasi) spectrum by looking at some of the prettiest specimens within the flora kingdom :) ![]() I will just begin by saying that the color spectrum assigned below is in accordance with Ernst Wilhelm's research that includes Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra. The specific research I'm referring to is his Gems, Jyotish and Minerals audio courses on astrology-videos.com. Anyway, different authors disagree on some color assignments but to me, it just makes sense that complementary colors would be assigned to opposing signs, as it would happen in the color wheel, i.e. Leo is Yellow and Aquarius is Purple, Libra is green. complementary and opposite to Aries that everyone agrees is Red. But before I divulge all the color combinations, let me proceed to the Rasis/Signs in cronological order starting with the Spring Equinox sign, the mighty Aries :) ARIES - RED, illustrated by Red Roses. I chose this particular flower because, as every rose, every Aries placement has its thorns ;) Besides, the thorns make me think of rocky mountains that are also an Aries realm. ![]() TAURUS - WHITE Taurus is the sign the Moon is exalted in, so it's only fitting it should be of the color the Moon is associated in the ancient Sutras. I chose Nicotiana Alata, aka Jasmine tobacco in English, because they are white and flower at night - see, I even made a rhyme to get you into the rhythmic poetic mood of the Moon :) GEMINI - BLUE OK, for Gemini I chose Forget-Me-Not, because they are blue, they are adaptative and grow like weeds, they are common in cities which is a Gemini space, and also because of their name - Gemini tends to not forget anything and just collect a LOT of information :) CANCER - PINK This is a color association that is not debated by Vedic authors, so you won't debate me when I pick waterlilies to depict the Moon's Own sign, Cancer. Their pink petals do evoke the pink bellies of crabs, don't they? ![]() LEO - YELLOW This one is pretty obvious. The Sun's own sign is Leo, so Sun flower immediately comes to mind. One of the neat things about this pretty plant is that it turns its head to follow the sunlight. ![]() VIRGO - SCINTILLATING Okay, so this is a tricky one. After all, Mercury is a trickster, right? So the sign he gets Exalted in should be no less. Vedic astrologers describe Virgo's color as Citra or Vicitra which means colorful, brilliant. In other realms such as gems it's easier to find scintillating examples, but with flowers, I would choose any flower sparkling with dewy petals in the morning light. I deliberately did not choose colorful flowers as multi-color is the undisputed realm of another Rasi (Sign) which we'll be discussing later on in Part II of this post ;) ~ TO BE CONTINUED here~~
